Check out Castanet

Make sure you link into Castanet to read the profile interviews with the WCWF Presenters! Lots of great information and inspiration.

There are plenty of rooms available at the Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre. Call direct to 250-493-8221 and ask for the Wine Country Writers’ Festival room rate.(rates vary: basic two queen room is $170/n)

A Couple of Questions…

Is anyone coming to the Festival from Gibsons area? We have a writer looking for a ride. You can share the costs.

Is there anyone who wants to share a room at the Lakeside? (female)

Wow… We’re Half Way Through June!

It’s unreal, but here we are–half way through the month already. At WCWF there’s a lot going on behind the scenes to ensure a great experience for attendees, guests, and presenters.

Did you get the Newsletter that went out last week? If not, then you’re not signed up for it. Let me know and we’ll add you.

The Festival is still available for $139, but as the clock strikes midnight on June 30, 2022, the price increases to $159.

It will increase again on August 1st, 2022 to $179.

Just saying… 😎

Check out the Virtual Book Bar.

You don’t have to attend the Festival to have your books on the Virtual Book Bar.

Cost is only $10 for max three books. Payable by e-transfer or we can invoice you on PayPal.

This is a wonderful way to get your books out in the virtual world. You never know who’s looking, always remember that. πŸ€“

Adding things to a festival swag bag is a great marketing tool. Heck it’s even done at the Oscars, right?

We don’t want to break your budget, so there’s a SideBar Sponsorship opportunity that allows anyone to pay $25 to have an item added to the swag bag (that means everyone gets one in their bag) and listed on our website too.

Swag could be anything small.

  • a business card
  • a lapel button
  • book mark
  • logo pen
  • coupon
  • anything small to promote your business/site/book

When you register, you’re given the option to do a free blue pencil with one of the presenters.

This means that they’ll read a small portion of your work and discuss it with you. Answer your questions and offer constructive advice and direction.

We will contact all those who signed up to request their sample writing so the presenters can have them prior to the meeting.

There are a limited number of spots available so register and book early. Even if you don’t get your first or second choice, it’s good to let someone else take a look at your work.

Once the appointments run out, a waiting list will be established.

Make sure you follow the page and stay in the loop.

Newsletters have been going out monthly, but will increase as time ticks down.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email: wcwfestival@gmail.com

Keep writing. Keep connecting. It really is important. πŸ’―

Hey Everyone… The Schedule is Live. Start Making Your Plans…

Happy June everyone! It’s been cool here, but I’m okay with that because we know the summer heat is coming.

I wanted to let you all know the schedule is up so you can plan your time.

While it’s subject to change, the basic skeleton will stay the same.

Jim and I working out the schedule over a rose.

Last week, Jim and I went wine tasting at Time Family of Wines and paired five different wines with five different genres.

What would you pair with a romance? How about a thriller or a western?

It was a lot of fun.

Time Family of Wines will be attending our Saturday evening to offer wine tastings and you can discover our pairings.

Check out the schedule and let me know if you have any questions.

Beautiful… This was one of the pairing … Can you guess which one?

July 1, 2020 is going to come fast so be aware.

The registration is a two step process where you click on the button and go fill out a form and then return to either pay with PayPal or if you’re in Canada you can pay by E-Transfer.

WCWF Registration

Early Bird Registration for Wine Country Writers’ Festival

An Evening at Time Family of Wine as We Make More Plans for WCWF!

Hi Everyone.

During this last week, Jim Jackson, visited the Okanagan on a fantastic planning and organizing trip for WCWF.

Picture of me and Jim at Time Family of Wines. Testing some of the wine…Hmmm….maybe this particular wine is too literary… πŸ€”or perhaps it pairs well with Sci-Fi…nah…too literary.

You’ll Get a Chance to Do Some Wine Sampling Too…

We had a blast at Time Family of Wines! They’re a huge supporter of our Wine Country Writers Festival and we truly appreciate all their help!!

Jim and I went to the winery and together with help from Pete the Som, we paired wine with different genres of writing!! How FUN is that?!

In the Saturday evening (Sept 24) of the Festival, Time will come do wine tasting and you can experience what pairings we made. (tastings will happen in the evening at 7pm before the slush pile–this is included in your registration for WCWF.)

You’ll have to let us know if you agree with the wine we chose. 😊🍷🍷

This is Jim Jackson…
Beautiful french fries… (this is a side order!) Yummy.

At Time Family of Wines we also kicked back with some music snd had a wonderful dinner.

This is me and Stacey. A great writer friend who will be helping out at the Festival.

For the Wine Country Writers’ Festival, you’ll be able to sip some wine, enjoy some readings, learn about writing–whether you’re just starting out or whether you’re a published author. There’ll be something for everyone.

There is a maximum number of registrations being sold so that we can keep this as a boutique event and build our community of writer friends and family.

Beautiful and floral Rose wine…. Hmm perhaps these would go well
with a romance novel…What do you think?

Question: Do I have to Drink Wine to Come to WCWF? No. You absolutely do not. You do you. Be who you are and enjoy the company of people around you. If you want to do that with a glass of water, that’s fine too.

You Can Register Here.

If you’re not yet registered, you have until June 30, 2022 to take advantage of the Early Bird price of only $139. On July 01/22 the price increases to $159 and Again on August 1, 2022 to $179.

After completing the form, you must pay. Either by returning to the website to pay by PayPal or to your bank account for E Transfer.

You’re not fully registered until payment and registration is completed and received.

We hope to see you there. Any Question? Just drop us a note and we’ll get back to you.

Hello Writers

Hotels in the Area of WCWF 2022

I’ve received many emails asking about where to stay in September for the Wine Country Writers’ Festival.

According to many event coordinators, this summer and fall is the time of cancelled and missed events. The phones are ringing off the hook and things are being booked quickly.

Just think of all those young couples who put their weddings off for two years, and of course the WCWF! We’ve had the hotel book since 2019!!

The entire Wine Country Writers’ Festival will be held at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre. The venue is modern, clean, and offering a rate of $169** per night (this is for 2 queen beds), but you must tell them that you’re a registered guest of WCWF.

**Please enquire about extra charges like taxes and parking.

Here are some pictures of the hotel and it’s location at the end of Main Street Penticton, right on Okanagan Lake.

Phone the hotel DIRECT at 1-250-493-8221 to secure a room. (If you use the 1-800 # then you’ll end up with a central reservation system that isn’t located in Penticton and they’ll know nothing about the WCWF).

If the hotel is full, then you can take a look at some other hotels in the area. These are completely separate from the WCWF, have not been checked, and info is provided only for your information.

Days Inn Penticton (250) 980-3952 –10 minute walk

Penticton Ramada  (250) 492-8926 –15- 20 minute walk

Best Western Penticton  (250) 493-0311 –10 minute drive

There are also many Air BnB’s in the area and even some camping… The key is thinking forward and booking for September.

So that’s a good place to start, otherwise google and search. πŸ€—

Happy Mother’s Day to All the Readers and Writers Out There

I can’t believe we’ve almost half way through May already. While I choose to consider every day as being “mother’s day”, this commercial one will act as a huge reminder.

Remember, the Wine Country Writers’ Festival! The registration or the weekend away makes a great gift.

The registration fee is only $139! and that includes workshops, panels, keynote, and so much more.

You can give it to Dad too…

Or I know!!

If mom and dad are both writers, send them both on a weekend to the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Convention Centre for the WCWF!

Registration is Open

We opened registration on April 25th, 2022 for both the FESTIVAL and the WRITING CONTEST. The response was very positive and we’re excited for the Festival.

Remember, some things like Blue Pencils or Pitches are on a first come, first serve basis. The price is included in your registration.

It’s been said that the summer and fall of 2022, is the Season of the Cancelled Events and with that comes a huge excitement to get out to live events. This also means that things like hotel rooms fill up fast.

Keep this in mind if you need a hotel in town and want to stay at the venue. There is a special rate of $169. Please mention that you’re attending WCWF. To make your reservation call direct to the hotel at 1-250-493-8221

Don’t wait. Register now.
