Meet Brian Davidson. Second place winner of the WCWF 2nd Annual Writing Contest! Congratulations!

Brian sent us this picture this morning as he recently received his certificate and anthology.

After coming in second in the fiction category for his short story Lieber’s Report, Brian chose to drive to, and attend, the Wine Country Writers’ Festival. So awesome. We sure hope to see him next year too.

Thanks for sending this Brian!

If you have your certificate and anthology, please send us a pic so we can post it. It’s a big deal to win a writing contest. Don’t under estimate the achievement.

Send to wcwfestival@gmail.com

Are You Registered Yet? That is the Question…

This is a Festival that offers an in-person experience to reconnect and build your writing community.

There is an agent looking for clients to pitch to him. He’s looking to represent commercial and literary fiction.

There’s also a publisher who is looking for diverse voices, domestic fiction and nonfiction, cook books, Canadiana, and poetry.

There’s another publisher/editor looking for the next sensational horror writer…

On top of ALL that, there are over ten presenters who will teach you different things about the literary world, its craft, and it’s business.

Get registered. It’s time now. Cost is only $179–which is GREAT value but if you email me at wcwfestival@gmail you’ll receive $20 off.

Wine Country Writers’ Festival

September 23 and 24, 2022 in Penticton, B.C. at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre. Start at 4 pm Sept 23.

An Invitation to Community…

Everyone is welcome at Wine Country Writers’ Festival. No experience necessary.

If you have been secretly writing a book, come and meet others.

If you’ve always wanted to, but were too nervous or shy to try–this is the place for you!

If you’ve already embraced the title of writer, come on over and we’ll chat…

The workshops are for everyone. Community and connection are essential to a writer’s growth.

Heed the words of Margaret Atwood.

It’s not too late to register.

There are still some pitch and blue pencil appointments available. Live and in person… can’t get any better than that.

Wine Country Writers’ Festival Community Building…

A note to all writers, poets, and creatives… Don’t let another person–editor, writer, family, writer’s group, or the lil devil on your shoulder–crush a dream.

Writing events like WCWFestival facilitate the sense of community and can boost your confidence.

Build a community of support and continue to learn and hone your craft. Always be YOU. ❤️

WCWFestival Just Added ANOTHER Quality Presenter and Other News…

How many times have you felt so stressed and overwhelmed that you stop writing?

You convince yourself that the creative process is blocked and there are too many negatives in your way to continue…

Meet Penticton local Mehrnaz Massoudi. She will be leading a 50 minute workshop on providing hands on techniques to learn to handle stress while also opening up the creative centers within.

Check out the presenter page. I’m so excited to take her class as this is something I’ve wanted to learn for a very long time.

Contest is Closed

We received entries from all over the world this year. We’re excited to see the contest grow and this allows us in coming years to up the prize monies.

All the entries are now off to the judges below and will all be coordinated carefully to ensure all the rules are followed and everyone is on equal grounds.

We look forward to the judges coming back with the results and then getting started on the 2022 WCWF Anthology.

Blue Pencils and Pitches are Filling Up

Hello all you lovely writers.

I just want to touch base and let you know that if you’re interested in doing a pitch or a blue pencil, the spots are assigned on a first come/first served basis.

The selection should have been made when you registered.

If you registered early and want to change then email Faye at wcwfestival@gmail.com

There’s no guarantee that something can be changed, but we did add Douglas and McIntyre and Imagine Press just a few weeks ago.

Prairie Soul is now full and will not be taking anymore pitches at the WCWF. Same for Jen Landels.

Christina Myers is full for blue pencils.

BUT… The good news is that there are still many openings. Make sure you put a couple of choices down when you register.

And pitches…. there’s still some space available.

Blue Pencil appointments and instruction will be sent out in mid August.

Blue pencils put another set of eyes on your work and can be so helpful as you move forward in a project. If you can’t get the person you want, move on to the next–it still makes a difference.

Registration is open. Blue pencils and pitch are free with paid registration on fcfs basis.

Price is now $159. Increase in August to $179.
