What’s a Blue Pencil?
When you register, you’ll be asked to choose who’d you like to do a “Blue Pencil” with.
Here’s how a blue pencil works: you provide (when/if requested by WCWF) to submit three pages of your writing that you’d like to discuss with a professional writer. This may be for feedback, or because you’re stuck, or perhaps you’ve got questions on you can make it better.
Not everyone is ready for this type of appointment and that’s okay. You don’t need to take the appointment.
Spots are limited and will be given at a first come first serve basis. After all appointments are full, a wait list will be established.
Do You Want to Pitch?
If you would like the opportunity to pitch your book, this year we have two options. Do your homework and look them up to make sure they’re a match for your kind of work. If you’d like to pitch your book to either PULP FICTION or PRAIRIE SOUL please indicate on your registration form.

We do not accept children’s books, erotica, memoir, or non-fiction.
We’ve got a strong preference for books by and about underrepresented groups, and we love works with a feminist slant.
It should pass the Bechdel test. At the moment we are only accepting novels from Canadian authors, and we are hoping to see more from underrepresented writers.
Jim Jackson: Prairie Soul Press
Prairie Soul Press (formerly Kouros Publications) stands for truth, community and story.
We look to find and promote authors from the Canadian Prairies and elsewhere whose work speaks truth through a captivating story and who are plugged into their local writing communities.
We publish multiple genres, but focus on works dealing with mythology, cultural exploration and the craft of writing.

September is a beautiful time in the Okanagan Valley. It is a time for the apple harvest and is also in the middle of the grape harvest throughout the Valley. The days are still warm, but the evenings begin to cool–a beautiful time to sit outside with a glass of wine and a book.
