Mark Cameron’s literary journey began at a writers’ festival twenty years ago. His attendance at the 2005 Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Arts inspired him to take up writing, and eventually to pursue a literary career.
After attending dozens of writers’ events across Canada and the western United States, self-publishing two novels, and spending five of his prime earning years studying English and creative writing, Mark is thrilled to have found his literary home at the Wine Country Writers’ Festival. He looks forward to building on the foundation that Faye, Jim, and the rest of the WCWF team have created, and to immersing himself in the South Okanagan writing community.
Originally from Calgary, Mark spent two decades in Gibsons before recently moving to New Westminster, which he gratefully acknowledges to be the unceded and unsurrendered land of the Halkomelem-speaking peoples. In a past life, Mark spent 20 years in the tech sector. These days, he’s putting the finishing touches on a Master of Fine Arts degree at University of King’s College in Halifax while working on a book about navigating the complexity of modern life.
